Are you a latter day Robinson Crusoe, but with a few sybaritic tendencies? If so, this is the place for you. A two bed-roomed cottage perched on the edge of a pretty, quiet, clean beach and three dedicated members of staff to look after your every wish.

The nearest car access point is a short walk away, with only a stroll via a wooden path worn over by the coconut gatherers – so no neighbours.

The cottage has grown from its surroundings, the palm thatched roof blending perfectly. White walls, wooden shutters and country-rid tiled floors are both cool and welcoming. Though not air-conditioned, the overhead fans and ocean breezes do their job well.

Tiered terraces lead down from the cottage, over rocks towards the beach and exotic blooms frame the paths.

The cottage is light and bright with large windows. Magnificent views of the ocean dominate every room, particularly at sunset when the sky does its quick change from startling blue through to a blend of red, orange and gold, through to the purple of night. As air pollution does not feature in this southerly spot, the stars seem brighter than ever.

Furniture and furnishing are simple and in keeping. Rattan chairs and tables, fresh white curtains and bed linen provide the necessary comforts. The 3 attentive members of staff, which includes the chef, will provide meals as and when you want, very much appreciated when adult and children’s timetables do not concur.

Highs Lows
  • Idyllic beach location for a perfect “away from it all” break.
  • Excellent ayurveda available in house.
  • Good for self-entertaining families with older children (an extra bed can be added to the twin room).
  • Friendly service, fitting in with your life style.
  • Kept immaculately clean.
  • No phone, no minibar, no TV – a plus point for many.
  • The walk from the motor access and terracing make this location unsuitable for toddlers or the less nimble.
  • If you rent only one room you may find yourself sharing the communal area with strangers; though there is plenty of space and furniture outside why not hire the property exclusively to ensure privacy.
  • No pool, and the sea currents are too strong for inexperienced swimmers and small children.
  • Some hawkers on the beach, but the isolated position limits this nuisance.
  • There is a 5 night minimum stay during the busy season.
