Traditional Villages

Set within a walled oasis in the Aravalli Hills, this luxurious resort lives up to its name derivation – Aman ‘peaceful’ in Sanskrit and bagh meaning ‘garden’ in Hindi. A nearby natural lake which fills each monsoon allows the trees and vegetation to thrive amongst the surrounding rocky and arid countryside.

From its origins as a hunting camp for the Maharaja Jai Singh in the 19th Century, it has evolved into a charming, picturesque hotel with elegant and spacious accommodation. The main building created from a pretty blend of pink sandstone and marble is arranged on 3 levels around a shaded courtyard where dining, library and the lounge allow guests to mingle as desired.

2 external staircases lead to a roof terrace, with a delightful pavilion offering panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

Located about 2 hours drive from Agra and Jaipur and 1 hour from Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Alwar landscape remains undisturbed by Aman’s arrival and guests can take to horse, camel, jeep or foot to marvel at the local history, forts and Moghul ruins scattered throughout the valley.

It is easy to lose yourself at Amanbagh from the minute you arrive to a traditional Hindu greeting to your blessed departure complete with a gift of jaggery and yoghurt wishing you a safe and pleasant onward journey.

Your every wish is met by the 250 impeccably trained staff from the local area - a discrete yet meaningful Aman vote for sustainable tourism. Yet, the silent footed staff invite you to relax “your way”. Allow body and soul to take on the hands and spirit of the fabulous spa therapists, meditation or yoga classes. Whilst the inviting sun loungers prepared before sunrise each day around one of Rajasthan’s largest and most impressive infinity pools are hard to resist. A smaller wading pool may be preferred for toe dippers.

The expanse of this retreat offers the favoured life of nobility in palatial havelis with each of its garden and pool pavilion rooms offering ultimate luxury, modernity and tranquillity.

Amanbagh is a sympathetic concept of self indulgence which embraces and supports a local community. The perfect location to unwind within the Golden triangle trail.
